Tiefling

Tieflings are one of those races whose origins cannot be described in much detail, simply because access to this knowledge has practically died out along with their earliest representatives. In the present day, they belong to various societies of scholars, warriors, herbalists, and practicing arcanists.
Tieflings are distinguished by their unusual skin colours, a pair of horns on their heads, and sometimes even hooves and tails. They adore jewellery, art, and elaborate clothing. This has led some people to theorise that they might be a subspecies of elves, though this theory was disproven long ago. What is known, however, is that they are a lively and intelligent race, capable of blending seamlessly into any environment, whether it be a noble court or the worst of slums.
Upon reaching early adulthood, at around twenty years of age, every Tiefling chooses a craft which they spend the rest of their lives honing to perfection. An example of such an individual is the renowned inventor Anateia, to whom the continent owes meticulous research into Axiom, a type of stone containing vast, almost inexhaustible reserves of energy. Her studies led, among other things, to the development of Tinkering, the art of creating artificially living constructs known as Axiomatics.
Despite their ambitions and remarkable individuals, Tieflings do not shy away from intoxicants, gambling, or partying. They enjoy themselves, sometimes to excess. Some even possess an innate talent for jesting, which can make them insufferable.
The Tiefling race has a culture centred around art, trade, and revelry. They have no political leaders; they are free spirits who call wherever they currently find themselves home.
Physical Traits
There is no particular body type characteristic of all Tieflings. They can be exceptionally tall and slender or broad and strongly built, much like humans. They are no stronger than the average human, nor are they faster. Thus, the only things that truly distinguish them from humans are their unusual, naturally occurring physical features, such as horns, tails, pointy ears, etc.
Skin and Hair
A Tiefling's skin can come in a variety of shades, such as red, pink, grey, blue, or any of the skin tones found among humans, however, in some cases, a Tiefling can be born with natural markings all over their skin, akin to tattoos. Their hair, in addition to natural colours, can also appear in shades of pink, white, purple, and other vibrant hues.
Eyes
The eyes are the most striking feature of any Tiefling, as they can come in shades of gold, red, violet, or even completely black. Natural eye colours are also found among this race.
Horns, Tails, etc.
Every Tiefling possesses horns, though no two sets are necessarily alike. They may resemble the horns of goats, rams, or other horned creatures. Tails and hooves are rare, but they do occur. Tiefling tails are not particularly strong and cannot be used in combat or to support one's weight. Their horns are nearly as durable as bone, though a solid blow from a blunt weapon can easily break them off.
Legacy
Tieflings possess the innate ability to see in pitch black darkness, however, while doing so they may only see the shades of gray
For unknown reasons, Tieflings cannot die of old age
Mental Traits
Tieflings are known for their adaptability and individualism. They value personal freedom above all else and prefer to walk their own paths rather than submit to political loyalties. Many possess an innate, insatiable curiosity that constantly drives them to discover new knowledge, uncover secrets, and develop and refine every aspect of their craft. They favour improvisation, believing that the most unexpected ideas often arise from it. This is reflected in their appreciation for art and fashion, through which they express themselves and their individuality. They are naturally sociable and enjoy the finer pleasures of life, including balls, theatre, gambling, and simply lively company. Some also struggle to remain in one place for too long, constantly seeking new experiences, adventures, and opportunities for self-improvement.
