  1. Staff ApplicationsThe server requires members of the community to run well, that is the simple truth of what it is to be a roleplay server and it is to ensure that the rules which have been set up are enforced. It is easy for members to be hot-headed and require some moderation to step in to remind them of the situation. Equally so, the story which the server thrives on demands creative individuals who wish to take on a grander role to push narratives for players to engage with, as a brigand on the road to a descendant of the Primordials to descend. Furthermore, the community team is the backbone of ensuring that new players are found and discover the server, while upkeeping its advertising mediums and onboarding new players. It is by no means an easy task at times, but there are many benefits granted to those who wish to stand up and do more to be part of the team who makes the server. If that is of interest to you, and you think you are ready and capable, fill out the form below. Minecraft Username: Discord Username: Age: Timezone & Availability: I have a working microphone: Y/N How long have you been part of the server? Which staff role are you applying for? Do you have any previous experience with this role or as a staff member? What can you do for the server? What is something you would change if you could change it now? Staff TeamsThere are currently three sections of the staff team, each with their own duties, all of them have a manager and potentially even an administrator in charge of them, depending on the size. Moderation being the highest in power, handling disputes regarding player conflict, player behavior, and ensuring the quality of life is kept to standard. Furthermore, they are responsible for handling reports submitted by players, and handling them with diligence in accordance with the rules to ensure they are giving a fair and honest verdict. Gamemasters are in charge of some of the most important sections of the server, ensuring lore is maintained, engaged with, and updated. Furthermore, they have the ability to host events with the oversight of their manager and admin with various levels of importance, and some of them may be granted specific characters to roleplay as, ranging from notable lore ones to simple ones. The creativity in this role is unmatched, and a good outlet for such. Helpers are in charge of the onboarding of new players and ensuring their step from whitelist to roleplaying is as smooth as possible, with taking in data, acting as guides, calculating retention data and working with Administration for uploading content to advertise the server and they may additionally be part of smaller tasks where needed. Though small in nature, they are equally as important as the other two teams.
  2. General Rules Be kind and respectful Everything done on the server is with this in mind, so while the list beneath may not exactly be exhaustive, moderators reserve the right to hold you to this principle alone which includes harassment, hate speech, threats, bullying, discrimination, etc... Spamming is not permitted Keep your messages concise and avoid excessively sending similar content. No inappropriate NSFW content or language This is a community that permits people from the age of 16 and above to partake, uphold yourself to the standard of potentially younger individuals seeing the content you post. No advertising Do not advertise platforms outside Blades and Banners. Modded Clients, Exploiting & Cheating We want everyone to participate in fair play, that means modifications to clients that grant advantages like a hacked client or radars ruins the experience for others as it applies an unfair benefit to yourself. This also means that the utilization of exploits also is not permitted, and should be reported to staff as soon as possible; we'll likely reward you! Impersonation Do not impersonate others or staff members. Alt Accounts Any unannounced alt account are not permitted, and should be linked to your account before usage. No real-money trading and do not scam players in-role play or out of character. Rules may be changed at any time with notice, ensure you are kept up to date as negligence is no excuse. Roleplay Rules & Behavior Uphold quality to the best of your ability, that means that you understand the quality of your emotes reflects the effort you put in. Understand that your behavior reflects on those around you, and if you post lackluster emotes, they will likely feel less inclined to put effort in turn. Understand that this is a roleplay server, and you should be reflecting your characters ideals, intentions, behavior, etc, with thought and try to avoid being a reflection of yourself or poisoning it with the influx of knowledge you've gained through out of character means. Avoid granting information of in-character incidents outside of the server when possible, or until the encounter or related roleplay has concluded. It is important to keep in mind that subconscious meta gaming is possible, wherein though you do not intend to act in favor of it, you may still do it unintentionally. This counts also for common external platforms like Discord or the Forums even. Give and take is important and understand that sometimes you must lose for a greater outcome. Do not take the roleplay to heart, and don't let it affect your mental negatively due to circumstances in roleplay which unfolded. You are encouraged to step away from it entirely if it bothers you to a great deal, though reach out to staff for such beforehand to ensure it stays that way. Consent and comfort in scenes Roleplay involving another player's character, especially involving harm, killing, robbing, or otherwise should grant the other person room to respond and interact, where you should not attempt to force outcomes on someone else's character. Furthermore, due to the server's position on being 16+, ensure that it is held to the same standard as the general NSFW rule. No powergaming or godmodding. Don’t dictate the results of your own actions on others (“I stab him and he dies”). Emote the attempt and let the other player decide the result. Likewise, don’t give your character abilities, gear, or knowledge that you couldn’t reasonably justify. Example here, and some in-depth explanations. Character conduct and lore; Characters should fit the setting (medieval and fantasy). No modern references, anachronistic speech, or characters built purely to be overpowered or to disrupt others. Add negative traits, put some effort in your character, and look to make them more than one-dimensonal warriors. Make room for others. Encourage players to include newcomers, share the spotlight, and try to avoid dominating scenes. The server is 16+, so a rule on torture, sexual violence, slavery, self-harm, and similar themes matters. Keep them off-screen or fade to black, and to get OOC consent from everyone in the scene. Sensitive themes. Because this server is 16+, themes such as torture, sexual violence, slavery, and self-harm must stay off-screen or fade to black. Never roleplay them without clear OOC consent from everyone in the scene, and stop immediately if anyone is uncomfortable. Building Rules Building should reflect the theme, where they fit medieval fantasy themes of which Blades and Banners take place in. Avoid modern-looking buildings, pixel-art, etc. This reflects in redstone usage too, with large mechanical farms, etc. Avoid leaving half-finished builds, scaffolding, or floating blocks sitting around for long periods of time. Abandoned buildings will be cleared by staff for inactivity if deemed necessary. Destroying, stealing from, or altering another player’s build outside of a sanctioned conflict is not permitted and will be rolled back. Conflict Rules Conflict should start with a good reason, fights, raids and wars should come from in-character motives such as grudges, politics, land disputes or general ambition. Do not skip roleplay to get to fights, ensure that there is a roleplay lead-up to it and there is an opportunity to make the circumstances clear through dialogue, actions, or, for an example, an ultimatum; lest you have proper reason for such. War needs a proper declaration through the channels, as denoted to the leaders of a faction. Leaders may be questioned for the reason and to provide reason for the conflict to start should there be disputes. Do not combat-log, abuse exploits or glitches, nor use out of character information to gain advantages in a combat scenario; roleplay and fight to your character's strengths rather than your own. If you lose a fight, do so with grace. Roleplay the consequences, injury, capture, retreat and whatever has been inflicted where it applies. Don't respawn and return to the same scene (See Permanent Kill rules below) After a conflict ends, wait at least 30 minutes to return to the same scenario if you have been killed. Information gained in that time is also voided, where you no longer--in character--remember any of it. Grant new players grace when it comes to combat, and be forgiving. Do not let grudges fester out of the roleplay due to the circumstances of conflict, if it does, bring it to staff. Staff may pause, reverse, or end a conflict at their whim which includes rolling back damage. If it breaks the rules or treads on the line of being a poor experience. Death and Permanent Kill (PK) Every character’s story ends eventually, whether by the blade or something far simpler, like a bad fall. The decision to permanently kill a character belongs to its creator alone. No other player may permanently kill your character, except in specific situations where server lore says otherwise which is done to protect good-faith roleplay. When someone tries to kill your character, consider the story that could grow from it: family or friends may seek vengeance, bandits may be hunted in your name, or even a war may begin. Circumstances and quality of roleplay should all inform your choice. If you choose not to permanently kill your character, they will remanifest and respawn in whatever way you wish to explain so long as it is fitting to the character and respectful of the outcome that resulted in its death, though other characters who witnessed the death may roleplay their reactions as they see fit. If you choose an unusual or uncommon explanation for your return, check with the Gamemasters first so it fits the server lore. If you want to permanently kill your character, you may do so by deleting it or declaring it to a Gamemaster. Once you do, you must not bring that character back. After [2] weeks, the decision is final and staff may enforce it.

The PrimordialIn the beginning, there was but two essences that flourished in the vast land of nothingness. The endless void of nothing, the Darkness, and its very opposite; Light. They both represented their own tenets and might, yet they were perpetually forced to contest one another, for Light may not exist without Darkness. Neither would yield. Where Light pressed forward, it scorched the edges of the void raw, and the Darkness closed over the wound like ink upon parchment. Where the Darkness crept in, Light thinned to a sputter, held. Ages passed in this manner. It was a war with no ground to win. Every blow one struck was struck, in part, against itself, for each span of shadow carved away left Light with less to stand against, and less cause to stand at all. There was nothing else to do, and nothing else to be. Such was the way of the Primordial forces. todo: describe the clash a bit more, make it a bit more aura and shit. Fragments of a conscience came to be, as their forms were ripped and reshaped. And in the grinding of the two, something finally gave way. A remnant; ash where the Light had guttered out and cold where the Darkness had been scorched away, and between them a seam of matter that belonged to neither. It was ugly, and it was heavy, and it would not burn like they would. From that refuse, the world was made. Both Dark and Light peered upon this new mass that had intruded upon their inevitability; it was a sign of a diversion, that the path could be nudged away and naturally did greed come to envelop them both. They saw this as the key to end their ageless conquest, and be their crown to wear in triumph should either claim it. Yet strangely, it proved not so simple for either of them for the creation and material it stemmed from hailed traits from both sides, the Light which allowed plants to rise and the time which claimed them to return to the land's resource was Dark. It all fell into a perpetual cycle, wherein the both of them saw their traits used in various manners. Life was born yet it was not so easily swayed by the both of them. For the both of them had fused in their own matter, and created a new element with their very touch but why would this force listen to its creators? They threatened all it was, and that was not hard to see for this new mote. Though the touch of the primordial had been made, and into their perpetual loop did they return though their attempted hand upon this new entity was not to be avoided and frequently would it come. In this time, their battle continued to sputter out more, and more of their own into fragments of what could even come close to life; stars drew themselves across the dark cloud while planes unseen ripped themselves into existence. The Spawn from the PrimordialFor countless ages, immeasurable, did the two Primordials persist in their eternal struggle; with every single clash did the Aethos grow. Torrents of might were torn asunder, cast into the expanse and drifting among the stars and through the hollows between their creation, carrying the scars inflicted upon one another. The violence of their separation had wrought a change upon the discarded fragments, with their form whole, the impressions upon its form was carved into it and the first crude vestiges of thought began to stir within those scattered remains, born from the ceaseless mutilation. While some of these sought to return to their creators, which would merely result in them being consumed and dispersed anew, others wandered into the furthest reaches of the Aethos where many connected in great concentrations and were drawn together to become one. This is where the first God was conceived, the first-born of the Primordial which was soon followed by more. Their births were all different, yet far from gentle nor deliberate. As the moats coalesced they naturally struggled against each other and they were imperfect forces from which they had been severed. Their form contorting and swelling, devouring those lesser fragments until sufficient essence had gathered, becoming its own independent entity. Darkness birthed its progeny in the cold recesses beyond the stars, swallowed by the void surrounding while those of the Light emerged in smouldering brilliance from its distant creator. They were both possessed of dispositions that neither creator could comprehend. Unlike their forebearers, these beings possessed conscience. They could contemplate, perceive, experience time, and suffer the torment of knowing themselves to be alive in this eternal state. Though brought to life from the Primordials, they were much diminished in stature, as their existence had been wrought from fractions of the original powers. Yet what they lacked in immeasurable might, they possessed in freedom of thought and certainly they would be vastly superior to any other being. Each grew distinct from its brethren, shaped by the particular sufferings and impressions borne within the essence of its conception. Some of them took delight in the burgeoning world and its curious inhabitants who were springing to life, whilst the others regarded all that had arisen from the primordial conflict with grave content and displeasure. There were even those who coveted authority of their progenitors, seeing them as leadership figures, and those who sought to only distance themselves from the quarrel that had granted them life. For the first time, the skies above Life saw stars scatter its night sky, and eyes of immeasurable might meeting the gaze of those who sought to peer. The Formation of the PantheonThe children of the Primordials wandered the Aethos for ages, where the struggle between their forefathers were observed. Stars extinguished beneath their hand, soon to be ushered forth with the breath of Light's embrace to imbue it for purpose -- only to discard it once more when its purpose was fulfilled. Destruction of worlds unborn seen, and the violent contortion of the planes as they ripped through the fabrics of existence with unrivalled might. With time, the Gods came to understand the nature of their inheritance, they were born from conflict, and their existence depended upon the remnants of the conflict, however the continuation of its purpose would certainly consume all that had been born by it. Neither could be reasoned with, though the emergence of conscience had begun with their forms, the greater masses cared not for such an idea. Light sought to dispel Darkness, and Darkness sought to snuff out the Light; they would never possess the capacity to conceive of an existence where the other might suffer to remain. The eldest amongst the Gods approached their progenitors, beseeching them to relinquish their great conquest, if only for a mere age. Their supplications were answered with indifference and their presence obstructed the advance of either force, they were cast aside with such might that tore their essence apart, crushing their very existence with a glance. Those who caught a glimpse of such a response knew that their creators would never afford them protection. This prompted many of them to reflect upon their position and the discontent that followed and bellowed within all, and those who were more ambitious saw an opportunity for a mutual destruction. A bitter but desperate dispute lasted, with some maintaining they were far beyond any form of reproach as they were the very foundations upon existence while others argued that no creation could endure while they sought to lay it asunder. It was amongst these deliberations that another course was conceived and the Primordials would be subdued, their consciousness, however primitive, forced into an eternal slumber. Their essence would endure, sustaining the principles upon which existence depended, whilst their capacity to wage war would be shackled for eternity. However, such a task demanded strength that none of them possessed. Thus, the Pantheon was created between the divine children to set aside enmities and unite their ilk against their creators, where their powers gathered. But this rebellion would prove to not be a swift affair. The heavens suffered grievously beneath the ensuing struggle, for the Primordials responded to the assault with all the terrible might that had shaped creation, and they were no match for such. Their children were torn from their forms, their essence scattered amongst the stars. Others were consumed outright, returning to the very progenitors they had sought to overthrow. (make this more significant) However, they had the advantage of conscience; they could deceive, conspire, act in collection, and direct their lesser powers toward a singular purpose and through a terrible battle of attrition, the Gods prevailed. They bound the Primordials within the deepest reaches of the Aethos where their forms were condemned to a slumber from which neither might willingly awaken. There, Light and Darkness remained. The surviving children stood amidst the aftermath of their victory, vastly diminished in number and strength. Their triumph had cost them brethren beyond remembrance, whilst much of the creation they had sought to preserve lay broken beneath the violence of their undertaking and lost to time. However, for the first time since its beginning, the Aethos would know peace. The Succession of the Primordial-BornWith the Primordials subdued, the Gods turned their attention towards the creation left in their wake. The Aethos had grown vast beneath the violence of its makers, and though their struggle had ceased the innumerable consequences remained and needed to be tended to. The world continued to flourish and decay, the stars persisted in their distant courses with peculiar manifestations of primordial essence lingering amongst the planes. The children soon realized they had taken upon a mantle in their imprisonment of their progenitors, conferring upon themselves an obligation few anticipated; the works born of their conflict required a guiding hand lest they return to the formless ruin from which they had arisen. They were to be shepherds for creation, its stewards. Each claimed some aspect of creation, drawing into themselves the lingering essence tied with its nature. Those who had been conceived amidst the furious conflagrations of Light found affinity with flame, sparks of lightning and the burning stars. While others born from the cold influence of Darkness assumed dominion over the inevitable passage of all living things, with silence and decay. Beneath their stewardship, the world saw itself to prosper. The first mortal peoples multiplied, and time permit the Gods to be known amongst them by innumerable names. The long-lived elves sought understanding in the stars and the mysteries of creation where the arcane arts lingered, whilst the dwarves found divine presence in gem and the depths of the earth. Men raised temples and offered supplications for protection and deliverance from death's grasp. The orcs, amongst others, would come to honor those powers whose authority was made manifest through strength and the trials of existence.
